General Responsibilities:
*Establish and develop supplier base and relationships to support strategic sourcing initiatives.
*Identify, define and lead the implementation of cost reduction opportunities with the focus on total cost.
*Combines sourcing responsibility for a particular commodity (Plastics, Metals, Motors, ..) and possibly for a or several of Pentair European production plants.

Tasks and Activities:
*Help create and implement a sourcing strategy for a given commodity.
*Select and evaluate suppliers and monitor their KPI's identifying actions to improve their performance; build and maintain strong professional relationships with suppliers.
*In conjunction with the Quality and Engineering groups, define and implement a supplier/product qualification program;
*Regularly communicate market updates and trends in relevant commodities affecting products costs.
*Evaluate opportunities from Low Cost Countries;
*Act as the primary interface for the 'commodity' suppliers to Pentair Water EMEA.
*Negotiate prices and terms to achieve the target deflation for company.
*Improve cash by negotiating lead lime reduction or consignment contracts.
*Manage supplier's ramp up and phase out when necessary.
*Work closely with project teams (manufacturing, engineering, new product development & technology) - including suppliers - to coordinate product migrations as necessary to achieve cost savings and strategic objectives (e.g. qualifying new materials, etc.).
*Communicate to tactical or site buyers and procurement managers inventory and CIP initiatives to ensure final executive is carried through.
*Understand and utilize the Pentair standard method for determining kanban, safety stock, and lead-time.

Technical Attributes:
*Purchasing, Business or Engineering degree (preferably Mechanical, Industrial, Electromechanical) or equivalent experience.
* At least 4 years experience in similar role, particularly in the areas of supplier selection and qualification and in managing the sourcing function in mid-size business
*Particular knowledge of a commodity (i.e. plastics - injection moulding, blow moulding, etc.)
*Strong knowledge of Material Management systems, databases; knowledge of SAP is a major plus
*Knowledge of basics statistics and statistical analytics
*Prior experience in industrial components a plus (e.g. automotive components; pumps; motors; etc.).
*Fluency in English and in at least one other of the following European languages (French, German, Italian)
