REDU OPERATIONS SERVICES S.A. is a Belgium-based subsidiary of Verhaert Space ( Belgium), with minority participation of SES ASTRA Techcom.
With a total of about 40 employees in total in Redu, the consortium between SES ASTRA TechCom and Verhaert Space operates since 2007 the ESA Station located in Redu (Belgium). It is responsible for the end-to-end maintenance and operations of the Station on behalf of ESA, and of the proper performance of its ESA Missions (LEO Earth Observation satellite operations, Data Relay satellite operations, Satellite Commanding & Tracking activities, In-orbit Testing, Galileo …). Levering on the technical and business expertise of its parent companies, and on the existing resources of the Redu Station, REDU SPACE SERVICES together with REDU OPERATIONS SERVICES are also aiming at developing new Redu-based services and operations with commercial and institutional customers.

For our Belgium based subsidiary we are looking for a:

Ground Operations & Infrastructure Manager ( m/f)

Responsibilities

Based in Redu, Belgium, you will report to the Managing director, of Redu Operations Services (R0S)

As Ground Operations and Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible to ensure the day-to-day operations of the European Space Agency (ESA) Redu Ground Station composed of satellite ground systems, IT office & operations infrastructure, including network and ESA site and logistic services.

You will also manage works in the field of analysis, design and specifications, and successful implementation of upgrades of the Redu Ground Systems (TT&C antennas, Communications Systems, IOT systems, Ground Control & Monitoring Systems, power plant) as well as be in charge of the IT infrastructure, the IT services and other site enhancements.

You will fulfill the missions as per the Service Level Agreement established between ESA and other commercial customers and Redu Space Services.

You will lead, manage and coordinate teams of Engineers/Technicians/Experts, for all operations & projects, strategy implementation and objective settings, priority definition, and supervision of the team leaders and/or team members.
You will interface with the European Space Agency (ESA) Manager and defend the interests of both ESA and RSS both internally and externally.
 
In this position you will:
• Lead and organise the Ground Operation & Infrastructure department and manage the ground operations team
• Maintain the ESA site, its ground equipment and IT infrastructure with the aim of maximum availability
• Coordinate operations for the implementation of any required ground segment project (existing or new)
• Manage the design, specification, implementation and maintenance of the RF and TT&C, communications & IOT systems, as well as the site and IT infrastructure
• Follow-up of ground systems equipment industry development
• Develop and maintain a configuration control system
• Closely work with the Space Operations Manager and the New Business Engineering Manager to provide support for designing the new projects
• Provide inputs to the General Manager for administrative and staff related matters
• Maintain track record of activities and coordinate the monthly report contribution
• Participate to the Internal Management Coordination meeting and to the Monthly Management meeting with Customers
• Support actively ongoing change processes and follow the ISO standard.
• Act as ESA service manager or his/her backup

You are expected to work together with other divisions of the ROS/RSS organisation. Throughout mission and project lifecycles, you will interface both customers as well as suppliers.

Experiences/Qualifications

• University degree in RF, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent
• A minimum 10 and preferably 15 years working experience ideally gained in the operations of satellite ground stations
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet goals and produce results
• Proven track records on having either lead personnel for projects that had multiple years of duration or lead personnel in an operation environment
• Demonstrated ability to embrace and drive change
• Demonstrated ability to actively communicate with employees at all levels
• Be able to coordinate and allocate personnel into cross-functional project teams
• Be absolutely service oriented
• High level of integrity and strong work ethic
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Excellent team management and people skills and with proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to identify areas of improvement and solve problems
• Critical task/tactical related decision making
• Vendor relation skills and diplomatic skills as well as the ability to provide practical conclusions
• Have the ability to coordinate with business requirements and work both autonomous and in interdisciplinary teams or lead them successfully
• Show a proactive approach towards internal and external customers
• Have proven experience in office tools like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, AutoCad, Lotus Notes or similar.
• Be willing to integrate into an international environment, to travel internationally and to communicate with international customers
• Fluency in written and oral English. Other languages are considered as valuable assets
