our Role...
Within the Financial Planning and Controlling unit, the financial controller will have the primary responsibilities to:
- Act as a Financial Business Partner for a dedicated internal user group / entity, to establish a strong interface and collaborative relationship with the relevant teams
- Contribute to the development and implementation of relevant Finance practices in line with the University / entity operating model and needs
- Analyze, develop, and maintain financial systems, instruments and procedures for own area while considering the needs of the organization
- Advise the management and decision makers on financial, execution and performance
- Provide financial analysis, deliver accurate, timely and comprehensive financial information that enhances / support plan and management decision making
- Develop and maintain financial databases and ensure availability of relevant and structured (financial) information in the database
- Prepare the budget, the forecasts and report on variances
- Consolidate data, in line with the entity / department strategy and within financial and reporting guidelines
- Understand and adapt to the specific requirements from the diverse University Units / departments
- Ensure financial transactions and reporting quality control, and compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Contribute to month-end / year-end process
- Contribute to maintain strong internal controls by developing, documenting and updating business processes and accounting policies
- Provide ad hoc reporting, requests, and projects
- Co-develop project proposals, including budgets, deadlines and planning, and monitor realization of projects
What we expect from you…
- Master’s degree in at least one of the following: Economics, Finance, Accounting or any similar field
- 5-8 years of relevant work experience in a similar position and at least 10 years of working experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French. German and Luxembourg will be considered as an asset
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient knowledge of advanced functions in Excel with a strong ability to automate reporting
- Good knowledge of SAP ERP functionalities (CO, FI, BI modules) being an asset,
- Ability to analyze and synthetize
