As part of our central organization, and acting globally for the entire Division, Product Development department is key to support our business development activities, sales operations as well as our manufacturing operations across the division. It both associates innovation and technical expertise responsibilities in the scope of product, technology and material development.

The main purpose of the role is to serve business interests with new developments in order to capture new opportunities and position Ceratizit as a leading premium Hard Material Solutions supplier while serving both customers and division operations with required technical expertise

Role and Responsibility

1. Innovation Process

  • Set, implement and drive efficient innovation process across the division
  • Lead projects selections, monitoring and priorities in a view of ROI and TTM considering technical complexity, strategic fit, resources allocation, budget, timing and related business potential
  • Increase innovation rate into focus product segments/industries/applications
  • Closely cooperate with business key stakeholder to understand and act according to market dynamics, customers’ needs/expectations, and competitive environment

2. Project Management

  • Take full ownership and lead development projects from technical specification definition till product industrialization – including coordination of all sub-activities required to achieve projects targets
  • Implement and drive project management structure in a sense of detailed planning and execution throughout different development phases (design, simulate, test, qualify, validate, industrialize…)
  • Monitor project development against specification requirements and targets (timing, costing...) – And implement required actions when deviating
  • Set and manage reporting structure and related dashboard to steer projects progress and provide visibility to management and key division stakeholders
  • Enforce cooperation with Group Research Center and other departments for project execution support

3. Team Management (~ 8-10 team members)

  • Provide required structure, organization, processes and tools for proper realization of tasks
  • Distribute roles & responsibilities as per expertise, experience and individual performance
  • Set clear goals and related KPIs for the department
  • Lead, manage and support team members in various administrative and operational matters
  • Identify needs for trainings and personnel development jointly with HR department

4. Technical Expertise & Support

  • Develop application expertise within strategic areas
  • Support sales operations with technical expertise and customer relationship management (technical counterparts)
  • Support manufacturing operations with specific analytics and needed related process improvement activities
  • Promote and communicate about department capabilities, key activities, expertise, performance and success stories both internally and externally
  • Liaise with external partners and peers for scientific/technical network development as well as know-how and experience sharing


  • PhD or Master Degree in Engineering, Mechanics, Metallurgy or any related technical field
  • Experience and deep understanding of industrial processes
  • Minimum 5 years in a management position within a technical field (engineering, R&D, process…)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as professional presentation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills within interactions at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Ability to effectively present information and interact with different type of internal/external stakeholders
  • Proven leadership abilities, organization and time management skills
  • Result-driven with structured approach
  • Analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making capabilities
  • Agile and capable of thriving in a fast-phased changing environment
  • Strong team-player, enjoy performing in a matrix organization through cross-functional collaboration
  • Visionary with good business sense, willing to challenge the status quo and think “out of the box”
  • Fluency in English and German. French would be considered as an asset.
  • Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Willingness to travel ~20% of the time, internationally
