We are currently looking for a motivated Head of operations (m/f) to strengthen our Anapath service for a permanent position on a full-time basis.


ABOUT THE LABORATOIRE NATIONAL DE SANTÉ


The « Laboratoire national de santé » (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, the LNS consists of four scientific departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection. In addition, the LNS is also hosting the National Center of Pathology and the National Center of Genetics. The LNS has its premises in Dudelange since 2013.

The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.


MAIN TASKS

 

  • Collaborate with department head and technical lab manager to establish, monitor and oversee annual and long-term strategic and operation objectives as well as developing, monitoring and managing the annual laboratory’s budget and capital needs;
  • Oversee, manage and develop the human resources within the laboratory in collaboration with the head of department, unit and laboratory managers;
  • Manages resource planning in cooperation with the laboratory manager;
  • Oversee inventory management including the selection, purchasing, storage and allocation of the laboratory equipment, supplies and data analysis tools;
  • Collaborate with the quality officer to oversee safety and security of laboratory facilities;
  • Ensures the highest standards of patient safety, quality, outcomes and service delivery;
  • Oversee operations, and cooperation with quality identifies continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laboratory regulatory and accrediting agencies;
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

 

PROFILE 

 

  • Master Degree in a relevant field or experienced laboratory technician;
  • Min of 5 years proven experience in a similar role within an accredited or certified environment;
  • Min of 5 years in a supervisory role;
  • Training according to the norms applicable in the service (ISO 15189);
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one of the following languages: French, German, Luxembourgish;
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources;
  • Knowledge of applicable safety requirements;
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, related supplies, computer hardware and software, and their applications;
  • Skill in utilizing organization and time management as well as in effectively managing multiple priorities on a daily basis;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience;
  • Ability to analyze and develop guidelines, procedures and systems to outline specific goals and implement plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks;
  • Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system;
  • Ability to interpret work-related documents, policies, and procedures;
  • Ability to manage a budget and work within its constraints.
