Job summary
Amazon is looking for a Corporate Counsel for Security to steer and support Amazon’s security teams, policies and practices across the company’s consumer business lines in the United States and internationally.

The position will report to the Associate General Counsel for Security and could be based in either our EU headquarters of Luxembourg or London.


Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities will include working closely with business leaders, legal professionals, and our public policy team to advise on all aspects of global data security laws and regulations, including data security and data breach rules. You’ll help chart long term strategy for protecting customer information across the company. And you’ll work closely with our business as well as with our Public Policy and Public Relations teams to help explain Amazon’s customer-centric policies and practices to regulators and law enforcement officials around the world.
  • Fully qualified lawyer with excellent academic records
  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience as a qualified lawyer, including data security or related regulatory and litigation experience with law firms, corporations, and/or government agencies
  • English (Fluent), with exceptional written and verbal communication skills


  • Thorough understanding of Internet architecture and related technologies
  • Ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environments
  • Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense
  • Team player who can effectively work with and manage paralegals, assistants, other lawyers, and business clients cooperatively and efficiently
  • Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization
  • Hands-on experience interacting directly with law enforcement personnel or data protection regulators
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours when necessary
