The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.

Your role

Alongside research activities, the postdoctoral researcher may contribute, under supervision, to selected teaching activities relevant to the project's thematic scope. This may include limited involvement in Bachelor or Master level teaching and supervision of student work related to the research project.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to academic publications and the dissemination of research results in international scholarly venues. The position is embedded in a research programme led by professorial staff and carried out within an interdisciplinary research team.

The successful candidate, with a particular interest in data protection, privacy-by-design and/or cybersecurity, will work on a project funded by the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs focussed on the governance of digital technologies in regions affected by humanitarian crisis and human rights challenges.

Your profile

  • A PhD in computer science, information systems or a related field
  • Expertise in the fields of IT security, privacy by design, information systems or risk modelling
  • Excellent publication record
  • Ideally previous experience on research projects in the Global South and/or humanitarian aid contexts
  • Experience in designing and/or delivering online trainings is considered an asset, including formats contributing to academic teaching, lifelong learning, or continuing education initiatives of the University
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Willingness to engage in teamwork in research groups
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Luxembourgish, French and/or German, and any other language is a plus
