About us
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.
Your role
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of reliable, reproducible and reusable AI infrastructure for biomedical research, supporting the transition of machine-learning (ML) methods from research prototypes into robust and deployable workflows. The role involves close collaboration with data scientists, software developers, infrastructure teams, clinicians and European project partners.
The position combines MLOps engineering, research software development and technical coordination across cloud, High-Performance Computing (HPC) and federated research environments. A key focus will be the development of automated and reproducible AI workflows that can be reliably deployed and reused across different research infrastructures.
The candidate will also contribute to technical architecture, interoperability, data governance and the development of sustainable AI services supporting biomedical research projects. This position is particularly suited to candidates interested in bridging ML, software engineering and translational biomedical research within a highly collaborative European environment.
Your responsibilities include:
- Define technical requirements for AI/ML workflows in collaboration with scientific, clinical and infrastructure stakeholders
- Design and implement reproducible ML pipelines covering data preparation, model training, validation, deployment and monitoring
- Establish and maintain MLOps practices, including CI/CD, containerisation, model and data versioning, experiment tracking and automated testing
- Deploy and support AI workflows across cloud, HPC and federated research environments
- Translate scientific and technical requirements into implementable specifications and coordinate development with software engineers, data scientists and infrastructure teams
- Contribute to technical architecture, documentation, project deliverables and the long-term sustainability of developed services
- Apply FAIR principles and support interoperability, data provenance, access management and the secure handling of biomedical data
- Develop and support privacy-preserving and federated AI workflows for distributed research environments
