Senior Financial Accounting & Reporting Officer

Our client is a leading European financial institution based in Kirchberg, offering an international and highly collaborative working environment. As part of the continued development of its Finance function, our client is looking to strengthen its Mandate Accounting & Reporting team within the Chief Financial Controller Directorate through the recruitment of an External Consultant.

Your responsabilities :

• Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to mandate accounting
• Post and review manual accounting entries covering loans, guarantees, equity investments, treasury operations, provisions, accruals and other financial transactions
• Perform reconciliations of financial instruments and related balance sheet accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified through reconciliation and control activities
• Review trial balances and analyse unusual transactions or significant variances
• Perform and validate accounting controls and account reconciliations within your area of responsibility
• Review general ledger entries to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable accounting requirements
• Identify, investigate and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies
• Review payment instruction files and ensure their accuracy prior to submission to banking partners
• Investigate payment discrepancies and analyse amounts withheld during payment processing
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial and management reporting packages
• Analyse variances relating to administrative expenses, revenues and balance sheet accounts
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation
• Perform controls related to financial closing and reporting processes
• Contribute to projects and initiatives impacting accounting processes, financial statements and reporting requirements
• Provide support on ad hoc accounting, reconciliation, financial control and reporting activities

Your profile :

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Audit or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in financial accounting, financial reporting or financial control
• Previous experience gained within a banking, financial services, international institution or audit environment
• Solid understanding of accounting closing processes and financial statement preparation
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and account reconciliation processes
• Good understanding of financial statements and balance sheet analysis
• Experience with financial controls and management and/or regulatory reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting or ERP systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex accounting issues
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership and deliver high-quality results
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong team player, comfortable working in an international and multicultural environment
• Fluent English, both written and spoken
• French is considered an asset
