The Research and Development Specialist will join the team of EMN Luxembourg in the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning under the supervision of Professor Birte Nienaber.
Your role
- Draft and finalise EMN studies and other EMN publications - prepare for and attend the meetings of the Advisory Groups with the aim of developing a common template; collect and analyse data on given topics; conduct interviews with relevant national stakeholders; desk research on policies, practices and legislation; review and provide feedback on the Synthesis Reports of the studies
- Support the drafting and finalising of the AMO in Luxembourg and related publications - review and analyse the latest national policies and activities in the field of migration, asylum and integration; collaborate with national partners and experts; support the translation from English to French; provide feedback on the Synthesis Report of the AMO
- Support the work on the EMN Glossary, e.g. definitions, explanatory notes; provide assistance for translation of terms - EN to FR and/or EN to DE
- Organise and/or provide assistance to staff members for the organisation of EMN Luxembourg events
- Participate in meetings and conferences in Luxembourg and other European countries on a regular basis; represent EMN Luxembourg at these meetings as needed
- Supervise the work of student assistants and interns
Your profile
- Master's degree or equivalent in Geography, Migration Studies, Social Sciences, Law or a related field
- Experience in the field of migration and asylum
- Analytical and research skills, ability to synthesize information
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders and to establish contacts at national and international levels
- Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
- Proven knowledge in data collection and processing, e.g. creating tables and graphs for reporting
- Solid experience in the use of common computer software, e.g. Microsoft Office
- Willingness to participate in in-person meetings in Europe, especially in Brussels
- Fluency in English and French. Knowledge of Luxembourgish and/or German will be considered an advantage
