Legal Counsel - Commercial Business

Introduction

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the legal function within a growing commercial business, becoming the main point of contact for legal and contractual matters. You will work closely with management and operational teams, providing practical legal advice, securing business activities and helping the company structure its legal processes as it continues to develop.

Our client is a commercial company providing services to corporate, industrial and professional clients. It is part of a well-established group and operates in a dynamic business environment, combining the stability of an established organisation with the challenges of a growing business.

About the Role

Reporting to management, you will act as the company's main legal point of contact, covering a broad range of commercial and operational matters.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Legal Advisory: Provide day-to-day legal support to management and operational teams, assess legal risks and advise on business decisions and new projects.
• Contract Management: Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, service contracts, supplier agreements, terms and conditions, NDAs and other legal documentation.
• Disputes Management: Handle commercial and contractual disputes, coordinate external legal counsel and monitor proceedings through to resolution.
• Compliance & Governance: Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments, contribute to GDPR and KYC/AML compliance where applicable, and ensure that internal practices and legal documentation remain up to date.
• Legal Processes: Develop and implement practical legal procedures, standardise documentation and improve contract management and document traceability.
• Reporting & Awareness: Provide regular updates to management, monitor legal KPIs and raise awareness of relevant legal risks and obligations across the business.

Candidate Profile

• Master's degree in Business Law, Contract Law, Corporate Law or a related legal field.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a similar in-house legal role, ideally within a commercial or service-oriented environment.
• Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, contract negotiation and general business law.
• Ability to identify legal risks and provide clear, pragmatic and business-oriented advice.
• Comfortable working autonomously and interacting with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
• Fluent in both English and French.

The Offer

• Salary: €70,000-€80,000 gross per year.
• Bonus: 2 annual performance bonus equivalent, subject to objectives.
• Meal vouchers: €10.80 per working day.
• Working hours: 40 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times.
• Remote working: 34 days per year, with a flexible arrangement that may allow up to 10 days per month, subject to the company's policy.
