The system architect defines the target architecture for a banking application/functional area and ensures it is fit for its intended purpose while being compliant with architecture standards. The system architect is responsible for all applications across the full lifecycle in his area and looks at all aspects from business architecture down to infrastructure architecture.
- Shape the business vision alongside product leaders, giving you direct influence on strategic decisions and a clear view of how your architectural choices drive business outcomes
- Own the architectural design of a defined domain, allowing you to make coherent, end to end decisions without dilution of responsibility
- Translate product intent into a clear, high level solution blueprint with roadmap, models and documentation, so you work with clarity on priorities, dependencies and long term direction
- Design subsystems and interfaces with full visibility on deployment and interactions, giving you control over how complexity is structured and reduced
- Build and evolve the architectural runway to enable new business features, giving you the time and technical space to prepare teams for what comes next rather than reacting under pressure
- Apply enterprise architecture standards while ensuring system sustainability, so your designs remain robust, scalable and defensible over time
- When standards limit progress, prepare and argue well structured exception options, giving you a recognised voice in architectural trade offs
- Manage the full application lifecycle and actively reduce architecture debt, protecting your systems from erosion and making technical risks visible and manageable
- Co define architectural approaches and capability roadmaps with system and enterprise architects, giving you a shared direction instead of isolated decisions
- Contribute to QBRs and PI preparation, ensuring architectural enablers are visible early and properly considered in planning cycles
- Consolidate findings into clear solution PI objectives and validate technical alignment, reducing rework and conflicting directions later on
- Support teams in defining features and breaking them into stories, helping architecture translate into pragmatic, buildable outcomes
- Anticipate risks linked to standard deviations or innovation constraints and work with discipline architects to resolve them, strengthening consistency at scale
- Align architectural direction with stakeholders, customers and partners, ensuring the system intent remains stable despite changing interests
- Work closely with suppliers to understand technical constraints and integrate external capabilities cleanly, so vendor solutions fit your architecture rather than distort it
