CTG IT Solutions
The Senior Observability Engineer will act as a Technical Lead to drive major infrastructure transformations. This includes defining the new enterprise architecture, migrating historical legacy solutions (Splunk, Newtest), and ensuring systemic scalability.
Your tasks:
Application Observability & Monitoring
- Implement and scale observability solutions across applications and services to ensure full visibility into logs, metrics, and traces.
- Consolidate and leverage modern observability technologies including Dynatrace, ELK Stack, Prometheus, and Grafana to centralize system performance visualization.
- Manage the key performance indicators (definition and/or design global dashboards) related to application health, latency, and error rates.
- Enable distributed tracing capabilities to allow automated performance bottleneck identification in microservices and API architectures
- Deploy ML-based correlation and anomaly detection capabilities within the target platform to proactively identify performance trends and root causes.
Enterprise Architecture Design
- Define the target cluster architecture for Elastic Enterprise license.
- Design cost-effective data tiering strategies (Hot/Warm/Cold tiers).
- Implement enterprise-grade RBAC security and cluster governance.
Legacy Migrations
- Lead the complete migration from Splunk to ELK.
- Decommission Splunk forwarders and deploy unified Elastic Agents.
- Migrate Newtest/Ekara user-journey scenarios to modern synthetic solutions.
- Integrate synthetic testing results with Elastic APM traces.
Observability Governance and Continuous Improvement
- Establish organizational monitoring standards and performance KPIs for the new Elastic platform.
- Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and application teams to integrate automated performance testing and Observability-as-Code into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI).
- Contribute to the definition and improvement of monitoring standards, performance KPIs, and operational excellence practices.
- Define alerting and data correlation strategies to optimize incident detection and root-cause analysis workflows.
Your profile:
Experience
- Education & Background: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent senior experience in Observability Engineering.
- Core Migration Skills: Ideally experience on Splunk-to-ELK migrations.
- Elastic Expertise: Deep knowledge of Elastic Stack clustering, data tiering, and lifecycle management (ILM).
- Synthetic Testing: Experience with typescript development, including knowledge on Playwright is a plus.
- Ecosystem Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus in microservices/cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
- Automation & CI/CD: Proficiency in scripting (Python/Bash) and integrating observability-as-code into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab).
Key Competencies
- Technical leadership: Ability to design target architectures, define enterprise monitoring standards, and drive tech transformation.
- Analytical Mindset: Deep troubleshooting skills with a strong capacity to analyze architectural performance bottlenecks and correlate multi-source data.
- Communication & Governance: Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills to guide teams through change.
- Container Environment: Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker orchestration combined with automated monitoring deployment.
- Certification in Dynatrace, Performance Testing, or Cloud Monitoring is a plus.
