The Senior Banking and Payment Officer plays a key role in delivering high-quality payment and banking services within a complex fund administration environment.


The role combines advanced payment processing, oversight of account opening activities, and active involvement in risk controls and process optimisation. The Senior Officer acts as a subject-matter expert, supports junior team members, and ensures that banking and payment activities are executed accurately, efficiently and in line with regulatory and client requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Payment Processing & Banking Operations

  • Fulfils an exemplary role in promoting and applying the organisation’s vision and values.
  • Independently verify, prepare and process complex payment transactions across multiple banking platforms.
  • Ensure payment workflows are accurate, timely and compliant with internal controls.
  • Act as a point of escalation for payment-related issues and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Monitor payment statuses and ensure proper confirmation of completion.
  • Provide support on more complex payment and invoice-related cases, ensuring correct treatment in the company’s financial tool.


Account Opening & Fund Setup

  • Support bank account opening processes for complex fund structures within a fund administration environment.
  • Review KYC/AML documentation for completeness and consistency prior to submission.
  • Coordinate with internal administration, onboarding and legal teams to progress account openings.
  • Identify and flag issues or risks related to account openings and escalate where required.
  • Support timely and accurate completion of account opening processes in line with agreed timelines.


Banking Systems & Controls

  • Support the administration of online banking platforms, including user access rights and permissions.
  • Ensure adherence to segregation of duties and internal security and control frameworks.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, process improvements and platform upgrades in collaboration with relevant teams.


Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Handle complex or escalated queries related to payments and banking operations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support operational discussions related to payment and banking delivery.


Team Support & Process Improvement

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to junior officers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Proactively identify process inefficiencies and suggest practical improvements.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance service delivery and risk management.


Desired Skills and Experience

Key Requirements

  • Strong technical expertise in payment processing and banking operations.
  • Proven experience in bank account openings within a fund administration or financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of KYC/AML and operational risk controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage complex workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, client-focused and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Minimum Education, Qualifications and Working Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business studies, economics or a related field.
  • Solid experience in payments, banking operations, fund administration or a similar environment
  • Fund industry experience is a strong asset.


Languages

  • Fluent in English (knowledge of French and/or German is an advantage).


Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office and financial/payment systems.
